Looking for a Voly alternative?
First, the respect it's owed: Voly is the standard for yacht financial management, and management companies across the fleet trust it with budgets, invoices and APA accounting every day. If you're on this page, the gap you feel is probably not accounting at all. I build KODO, so I'm not neutral, but I'll be straight about where each belongs.
Counting the money, or running the boat
The honest answer to "Voly or KODO?" is usually that they do different jobs. Voly is finance-first: budgets, expenses, invoices, payroll support, the APA ledger the accountant loves. KODO is operations-first: the crew's daily tasks, maintenance, drills, rest hours, guests and charters, with the money captured where it happens aboard.
What sends people to this page is rarely a failure of Voly's accounting. It's that the accounting is the only part of the boat that runs on a system, while the operation itself still lives in WhatsApp groups, spreadsheets and the heads of crew who leave. If that's the gap, you don't need a different finance tool. You need an operations one.
Stay put if
- Your management company or family office runs its accounting workflow through it and reporting standardisation matters.
- A purser or shoreside accountant is the primary user and deep multi-currency finance is the leading requirement.
- The operational side of your boat already works and money control is the only gap you feel.
Talk to us if
- The gap is operational: tasks, maintenance, drills, rest hours, handovers, guest preferences, not ledgers.
- You want the owner seeing readiness, position and spend in one calm view, not an accounting export.
- You want to keep Voly for accounting: KODO imports its exports, so crew capture spend once and both worlds stay true.
We keep this table fair. Voly's product evolves like anyone's, so verify their side directly with them; we'll correct anything they tell us we've got wrong.
What people ask us
Is KODO a replacement for Voly?
Usually not, and we say that plainly. Voly is a finance platform; KODO is an operations platform with practical money capture built in. If your accountant is happy in Voly, keep it: KODO imports Voly CSV exports so the operational spend picture and the accounting stay consistent without double entry. Boats without a dedicated finance workflow sometimes run KODO alone.
Can KODO import our Voly data?
Yes. Export from Voly, drop the CSV into KODO, confirm the column mapping once, and the spend history appears in the owner and management views. Unparseable rows are skipped and reported, never silently inserted.
What does KODO cost compared to Voly?
KODO is €1,000 per vessel per month with every module and unlimited crew accounts included, published publicly. Voly pricing is quoted on request; ask them for a like-for-like quote for your vessel.
The other systems people weigh up
Most boats shortlist two or three before they choose. These are the same comparison, written the same way.
